SCHENNA IN BLOOM

When spring comes to Schenna, winter is not really all that long gone. To all intents and purposes, there is still a little bit of it left. At least on the summits, as up there on high, the snow still rules. Down in the valley, however, things are already becoming greener and more colourful. Powder sugar-sprinkled mountains and pinky-red apple orchards. A view that delights and tempts people outside into nature as it awakens.

The fact that in Schenna spring always comes just that little bit earlier than elsewhere is down to its favourable sunny location above the spa town of Merano. And it is also certainly due to the mild Mediterranean climate that ensures early summer temperatures from as soon as March. It is a wonderful time for nature lovers, connoisseurs and active types. Perfect for recharging your batteries surrounded by burgeoning flowerbeds and babbling irrigation channels. For setting off on your first leisurely rambles of the year – on foot or perhaps by mountain bike or e-bike. Spring comes to the landscape of Schenna with a bouquet of shades, scents and emotions, bringing with it colourful variety to kitchens, wine cellars and castles. Where the magic of the new season can be experienced in a very special way. Musically, for example, in the form of open-air concerts or matinées in a lively setting, pleasurably and luxuriously at wine tastings and four-course murder mystery dinners, or artistically and culturally at readings on the farm or evening guided tours of the castle. Flower arranging workshops inspire the imagination, whilst guided hikes escort you through the colourful landscape. On the alpine pastures, in the gardens, along the Apple and Wine Paths and around Schenna Castle: all over the sunny terrace above Merano, this lovely time of year makes you want to

enjoy new ventures, get out of doors and treat your palate. To make sure the latter is a success, Schenna's restaurants, wine taverns and inns serve up fresh spring cuisine that makes the taste buds tingle with young vegetables and flavoursome herbs in keeping with the season. Delicious treats for the palate, beauty for the eyes, stimulation for the spirit: spring in Schenna is a real experience for the senses.
